My Household Bubble | Thresholds of safety.

Second Year Project

Researching the effect of the pandemic on my 'household bubble', I investigated the guiding features that made it a home and a unique space to isolate in. The themes of thresholds and boundaries continued to shine through as not only a way of understanding my surrounding architecture, but also how I activate spaces. The route through the corridor included moments to pause, reflect and engage with the outside world as well as the internal features and openings to other rooms and space within.

The bubble was composed of the thresholds that act to define it. In a time of fear and invasion, the divides of the household mattered more than ever as permeability interfered with the need of a house to protect those inside from the outside environment.

I explored the journey of the body, time and foreign elements (like post) into this haven.
